And I Fell Again

And so I thought I am tough enough (again) and ready to go out there, make myself available, ready to mingle and meet new people but to my dismay I found out as always that I am not. Who would know right? Nobody exactly knows what the future holds, the turn of events will catch you surprise, one morning you will just wake up to find yourself already longing for a person you never thought you will fall for.

Again I find myself in a battle between pursuing what I am feeling or just set it aside and wait for the next one to come. No matter what choice I take, both would mean I have to gamble. I am not very young anymore to have the luxury of time to wait, but that doesn't mean I will just take whoever is available even if its not really worth it. Don't I still have the right to choose despite the given circumstances? I know in time this feeling will pass. I will get over him like I did with the rest of them but sometimes the cycle is already very exhausting, the same thing happens all the time. Maybe because I am doing something not right, but what is it exactly? Its not that I've fallen with the same people all the time. The men I fell in love with were completely different from each other, the only person who remains the same is me. So maybe its time for to change. Which part?

The "I Am Making You Jealous" Move

I was out for diner with three of my friends yesterday. Adora, my nurse friend, Tara and Sai our two Nepalese doctor friends. Actually Tara and I have been going out on dates before. I think we started dating May last year. We already went out alone a couple of times already. On our last date something not so pleasant happened. I don't know if I did something that led him on but he somehow wanted something more that night, something that I cannot give him. I did not go out with him again ever since that night, although we still communicated but that was it. There were times that we would bump into each other, we would just say our Hi's and hellos that's basically it.

Last night was something I could not say no to, he celebrated his birthday 4 days after I celebrated mine and I was so shock because he actually greeted me. I didn't know he really remembered my birthday, we were able to talk about birthdays before but that was way, way back.
Adora also recently celebrated her birthday so it was like a belated birthday celebration for the three of us. We agreed to have diner at a pizza house inside a mall @ 6:30. He and his friend Sai arrived at around 7 (they made us wait). But before they arrived Tara texted first asking if it was okay to bring Sai along and one lady friend. We texted him back saying that it was perfectly fine. But when they arrived it was only the two of them, no lady friend. When I asked him about it he said "I just wanted to know if you will get jealous". What a lame move. Men and their egos!

Men and Their Humongous Egos

So here I go. I am not going to start a battle of the sexes but I am just going to let out my point of view regarding the subject matter. I hope I am not going to bore you but I will do my very best to make this very entertaining, a bit irritating and  coyly offensive (lol). I have been around for more than a quarter of a century (will not reveal my exact age..hahaha) and so far I have had unfortunate encounters with men who has gigantic egos and wears a huge sign on their foreheads saying "I am a man".

Before I proceed let me give you first Mr. Webster's definition of ego. The simplest and most uncomplicated definition or synonym of ego is self-worth or self-esteem. So in short most men tend to have a very high self-esteem and see themselves very, very worthy of respect and admiration. That's not so bad, but I guess the downside of having that much self worth is when you start to look down on other people especially those from the opposite sex (tsk, tsk, tsk).

According to the website The Frisky there are at least 9 ways to unintentionally bruise a man's ego. These are the most common but if I were to make a list I bet it would reach at least 50 (hahaha). I am not a man hater, this is not what this post is all about but I am just pro equality and no to double standards. But as Filipina I can say that in our society women are already given an almost equal treatment with men. I just hope that the same thing will happen in other countries where women are still treated as secondary citizens. Women are not given the same opportunities and right to education and livelihood,  they do not have the freedom to express themselves not even to choose their spouse.

This is not men's fault. Nor the fault of their egos, most of these inequalities are brought about either political or religious factors.

Men Play Citiville!

I play men's games. I play Starcraft 2 : Wings of Liberty. I also play other video games that are played more commonly by men. Just recently I started playing Citiville at Facebook. I was influenced by my sister.  At first I thought it was lame but then I got hook to it, and I thought that was s surprise already but then I discovered something far more fascinating amongst all my neighbors (my FB friends who also plays Citiville) almost 40% of them are men. It was funny but cute, mind you I know these men personally so I can attest that they indeed one hundred percent straight.
